Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are an important part of contemporary schooling. The Australian Curriculum includes ICTs as a general capability across all learning areas, as well as Digital Technologies as a specific learning areas. Nirimba State Primary School is committed to the provision of a futures orientated curriculum. Student access to and use of a variety of computer hardware, software and information sources, including internet and email, represents a significant element of our curriculum. Opportunities exist to further the education goals of the school by networking with others and accessing unique information and resources through technological mediums.
Nirimba State Primary School students in years 1 to 6 will have access to a one-to-one device program, where each student uses a dedicated electronic device to enhance their learning experiences. Prep students will have access to a class set of iPads to support their learning and enable them to develop ICT skills that are age appropriate. Nirimba State Primary School has a co-contribution approach through our Student Resource Scheme. This model offers consistency of experience and efficiency of management. School-provided devices includes the department’s Managed Operating Environment which makes the provision of software and technical support easier.
Nirimba State Primary School will also have laptops for student use, as part of our school’s Robotics, Coding & STEAM programs. The school has a dedicated Robotics and Science lab, along with several Arts spaces for student and class use.
