Nirimba State Primary School has state of the art facilities and will provide an excellent primary school education for students residing in the Nirimba area. As a school of choice in the local area, and one that is expected to grow over the next five years as the area further develops, there is a significant amount of interest from families wishing to enrol their children at our school.

All eligible children and young people are entitled to 26 semesters of state education (including Prep) and may apply to enrol at Nirimba State Primary School if they reside within the school’s catchment area. Prospective students who reside outside of the school catchment area, may apply to enrol under the Out of Catchment Enrolment process.

If you would like to enrol your child/children at Nirimba State Primary School, the first step is to contact our school office on (07) 5413 7777, to enquire about specific enrolment procedures such as our Enrolment Management Plan. If you are considering early entry to Prep, please arrange to meet with the school principal to discuss the early entry requirements and request an application form. If not an Australian resident or citizen, or the child of an Australian resident or citizen, contact Education Queensland International (EQI) in the first instance.

Our school office can provide you with an enrolment pack and can arrange an enrolment interview with a member of our administration team. We look forward to welcoming you to our school community.

Catchment Area

Nirimba State Primary School has an Enrolment Management Plan (EMP) in place. The catchment area as of January 2022, encompasses all households and communities south of the Aura Business Park i.e. Nirimba and Banya. To see if your address is within the catchment area, please click here and search for your address.

Nirimba State Primary School follows the policy and procedures for Enrolment Management Plans (EMPs). The below information is an extract from the EMP policy and procedures and can be found on the Education department website.

Parents or legal guardians who wish to enrol their child at the school will need to demonstrate that the student's principal place of residence is within the catchment area. Current proof of residency at the address indicated can be provided by way of one of each of the following:

  • One primary source — a current rental/lease agreement, or rates notice, or unconditional contract of sale.
  • One secondary source — a utility bill (e.g. electricity, gas) showing this same address and parent's/legal guardian's name.

If the Principal is not satisfied that the documentation provided by an applicant demonstrates adequately that the address stated is the student's principal place of residence, then the Principal may request further sources of proof of residency. Examples may include (but are not limited to):

  • additional utility bills (e.g. water bill) or a series of bills at for the same address over a sequential period to demonstrate continued/ongoing residency
  • electoral roll verification letter
  • mobile phone statement (with current address details)
  • statutory declaration
  • driver's licence (with current address details)
  • bank statement (showing current address details; financial details are not required
  • tax assessment notice (financial details are not required)
  • documents demonstrating recent change of address/re-location to within the school's catchment area (e.g. proof of sale or termination of lease for the previous principal place of residence in a different catchment).

Families wishing to enrol their child or children but who do not reside in the catchment area, are defined as out of catchment enrolments.

Out of catchment enrolments are at the discretion of the Principal and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Families will need to complete an out of catchment application and families will be placed on a waiting list in an order based on the date the office received the enrolment application.
