Japanese
The Australian Curriculum: Languages (Japanese), will be delivered to Nirimba State Primary School students from Prep to Year 6, to enable all students to engage in learning a language in addition to English. The design of the curriculum recognises the features that languages share, as well as the distinctiveness of the Japanese spoken and written language.
The Languages curriculum is delivered to all students in Prep to Year 6 to develop students’ knowledge, understanding and skills so they can communicate in the target language; understand language, culture and learning and their relationship; and develop an intercultural capability in communication. Learning focuses on both language and culture, as students learn to communicate more meaningfully across linguistic and cultural systems, and different contexts.
Nirimba students will participate in weekly lessons with a specialist Languages teacher. We believe that language learning broadens students’ horizons in relation to the personal, social, cultural and employment opportunities that an increasingly interconnected and interdependent world presents. The learning of a language from Prep, supports our students to become active citizens of the future world.
