Nirimba State Primary School’s Discovery Centre is a space for students to experience a variety of resources in flexible and creative ways. It is a welcoming environment and will be a space used for curriculum instruction, as well as a space for students to investigate areas of interest. The theme of our Discovery Centre is “Where the Rainforest Meets the Sea” and there is a variety of spaces available for student use.
The Discovery Centre provides a shared space for students, parents and staff to connect, share literature and access quality literature. Our library shelves are packed with a variety of literature to suit all levels and interests. The Discovery Centre promotes quality literature and encourages students to view reading as a fun, engaging and life-long skill.
Along with extensive literature, the Discovery Centre also has a media centre with a green wall for students to explore photography and film-making. Students are also able to use a Lego Wall where they can build creative and interesting art work. Not only is this wall a fun and engaging space for students to use, but it can also be used to develop a variety of fine motor, spatial and hand-eye coordination skills.
